George Sinker, MA, (born 5 May 1900, Hyderabad, India; died January 1986, Macclesfield), was Bishop of Nagpur and Provost of Birmingham Cathedral.[1]
He was the son of Rev. R. Sinker and was educated at Rossall School and Brasenose College, Oxford. In 1924, he married Eva Margaret, daughter of Colonel C. H. Madden OBE MC.
He was ordained in 1924 and was appointed Headmaster of the Bishop Cotton School, Simla in 1935. After being General Secretary of the Bible society for India, Pakistan and Ceylon in 1946, he was appointed Bishop of Nagpur in 1949.[2]
On his return to the UK, he was successively Assistant Bishop of Derby from 1954 to 1961 and Provost of Birmingham Cathedral from 1962 to 1972.[3] He died on 19 January 1986
